About Afrim Gashi

What is Gestalt therapy?

My life story is extensive and full of struggles – both literally and figuratively. Gestalt therapy has been my lifeline.

I now throw out the lifeline to help others not to burn out; to a life in balance built on self-insight, love, power and authenticity.

I was trained as a psychotherapist in 2022 after 5 years of studying Gestalt therapy at the Institute for Gestalt educations. I also has a master's degree in Carl Rogers.

Gestalt therapy was developed by Fritz Perls, Laura Perls and Paul Goodman. They needed a new approach towards giving people good and lasting life balance - namely by looking beyond the problems and taking an interest in who as a whole person.

Symptoms

What do you experience?

We all struggle and have a hard time at some point in our lives. Do you recognize some of these feelings?

Grief

A deeply personal pain, often caused by the loss of a loved one or the end of a period of life.

Stress

Being pressured by busyness at or outside work to such an extent that it, for instance, leads to insomnia, forgetfulness, and irritation.

Depression

A feeling where everyday life feels like a heavy, dark blanket that cannot be thrown off. When things that normally bring joy feel empty.

Disease

When the body or mind becomes the adversary, and everyday life revolves around fighting discomfort or pain.

Challenges with diagnoses

The difficult journey towards understanding a health problem and finding your way in life with new circumstances.

Loneliness

A deep sense of isolation, a longing for community, even in a room full of people.

To feel embarrassed/shame

An emotional conflict that comes when we feel we are not living up to our own or other people's expectations.

Difficult family relationships

The strain it can be when the close, which should be safe, instead becomes a source of stress or conflict.

Meaninglessness

When life lacks direction, purpose or value. When every day feels insignificant and the future feels darkened.

Anxiety

The constant, suffocating fear that makes the world dangerous and uncertain, even when the threat cannot be seen.

Low self-esteem

A constant doubt of one's worth, a feeling of not being good enough, strong enough or important enough.

Recovery after psychosis

Rebuilding meaning in life and returning to security and stability after a difficult and tumultuous period.

Are conversations confidential?

Yes, I am subject to full confidentiality. Everything you tell will be between you and me.

Where do you offer to come out for therapy talks?

I live in Vejle and would love to come to your home in the entire triangle area - i.e. Vejle, Kolding and Middelfart. I may also be able to drive longer - contact me to find out more.

Do people get anything out of therapy?

Yes, I would definitely think so. Take my life as an example – had I not been in therapy myself, I would not be where I am today – and probably a very bad place.

When you put into words your inner thoughts, feelings and memories and get a psychotherapist's perspective, you gain special knowledge about yourself - and fuel for the way forward towards a balanced and well-being everyday.

I am a man and did not find it so easy to talk about my life.

Many men find it difficult to share about their lives. It's sad - because we are social beings, created to share each other's burdens. I know how it can be, which is why I am especially patient and accommodating to men in particular.
